PhDr. Václav Mertin has more than 45 years of experience in educational-psychological counselling and was a teacher at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague for more than 30 years, where he focused on educational, school, and counselling psychology.
His expertise lies in school psychology, especially the individualisation of the educational approach to children, learning and behavioural disorders, entry of children into school, homeschooling, and parent counselling. He is the author of many professional and popular publications.
Lecture content:
Definition of bad habits: What are bad habits and why do they appear in children? Examples of bad habits, such as nail-biting, tics, or poor eating habits.
Psychological background: What factors contribute to the development of bad habits. The influence of stress, anxiety, or the family environment.
Prevention methods: How to recognise emerging bad habits and how to prevent them. Creating a healthy environment and positive habits.
Strategies and techniques: Advice on how to help children overcome bad habits, including positive motivation, using rewards, and modelling behaviour.
Case studies: Successful examples of families and children who have overcome bad habits.
